Located in Lahaina, Maui.

Aloha, I'm Heather! And in 2015, a seemingly ordinary Christmas gift from an ex-boyfriend sparked the extraordinary journey that became Handmade by Heather. A sewing machine became the catalyst for my venture into the world of handmade swimwear.

Starting on this creative path, I attended a single sewing lesson that ignited a passion within me. From there, fueled by determination, I turned to the endless YouTube videos, trying to master the craft. Through countless attempts and failures, I persisted until I felt confident in my work.

As the flame of confidence grew, so did my desire to share my creations with the world. I started my business and spent countless days and nights building it. Then, this fall, 2023, tragedy struck. The wildfires that swept through Lahaina, my home, claimed everything - my town, my possessions, fabric, sewing machines and the heart of Handmade by Heather.

Amidst the ashes, a community rose. The loss was devastating, but the support that followed was overwhelming. With nothing left, the generosity of suppliers, customers, and family became the threads that began the process of rebuilding. Through their donations, I found not only the means to recover but a newfound purpose.

Today, Handmade by Heather stands as a symbol of resilience and community. With the aid of those who believed in the brand, I can continue creating not only for the global swimwear community but for the very town that faced the flames with me.

Every piece carries the spirit of rebirth, the embodiment of strength emerging from the ashes. The heart and soul poured into each handmade suit are a testament to the unwavering support that allowed Handmade by Heather to rise again.
